2018 Silver & Turquoise Ball

More than 530 guests attended the 35th Annual Silver & Turquoise Ball to benefit Phoenix Indian Center. The April 14 evening at Scottsdale Resort at McCormick Ranch included silent and live auctions, the Posting of Colors by Sister Nations Color Guard and a blessing by Phoenix Indian Center’s Diné Urban Voices. Dinner, which followed, showcased indigenous cuisine prepared by Chef Felicia Ruiz. The entertainment was Celebrating Warrior Women, produced by Violet Duncan, Sage & Stone Experience.

The Leon Grant Spirit of the Community Award was presented to Dr. Maria Harper-Marinick, chancellor of the Maricopa Community Colleges District, and Lori Piestewa National Native American Games and the Lori Ann Piestewa Family.

More than $255,000 was generated to support Phoenix Indian Center programs, including college and career readiness for high school youth, community education workshops in substance abuse prevention, the onsite child-care center and helping adults re-enter the workforce.

Charlotte and David Hansen were the evening’s co-chairs.
