Gala Creates Magic for Families Staying at Valley Ronald McDonald Houses
A record crowd of more than 540 guests at A McKnight to Remember raised almost $410,000. The funds will be used for families staying at one of the Valley’s three Ronald McDonald Houses to ensure no family will be turned away for being unable to pay the $15 nightly voluntary donation that is asked. In 2014, the average family stay was 15 nights and only 10 percent of the 1,956 families staying at the Houses were able to make a contribution toward their stay.
At the Nov. 14 event at the Arizona Biltmore, Heart of the House Awards were presented to longtime supporters and advocates Kay and Charlie Thompson and Banner Health, whose employees have donated thousands of dollars and hundreds of volunteer hours and which donated the building that is the Ronald McDonald House on the campus of Cardon Children’s Medical Center.
Amy and Aidan McSheffrey co-chaired the event.
