An Evening Honoring Bill Levine

More than 750 people attended the Valley of the Sun JCC gala honoring Bill Levine on Nov. 19 at the Arizona Biltmore. The evening raised more than $1.2 million for The J and its programs and was the largest fundraiser in The J’s history, both in number of attendees and money raised.

When he accepted the honor, Levine touched on what is most important to him – his wife, children and grandchildren and his childhood friends and business partners. He also thanked those who flew in from around the country for the event. He shared the importance of The J in his life and his wish that The J remain a central part of not only the Jewish community but also the greater community.

Former New12 newscaster Lin Sue Cooney emceed the evening, which featured entertainment by award-winning star of stage and screen Jason Alexander. He regaled guests with a special song about The J and interacted with attendees as he answered their questions on a variety of topics ranging from his Jewish upbringing to an award-winning children’s book he wrote for his son. Rachel and Jonathan Hoffer co-chaired the evening.

Afterward, major donors and sponsors were invited to a VIP reception with Alexander.
