Champions for Children & Families Dinner
The 150 guests at the Champions for Children & Families Dinner on Dec. 8 at the Sheraton Crescent Hotel mingled amid the sounds of jazz trio Jazzola, and learned more about the mission and work of Child & Family Resources.
Emceed by Nicole Crites of AZ Family TV3, guests heard a testimonial by Desiree Gutierrez, a recent graduate of the organization’s Maricopa Center for Adolescent Parents program, about how the program helped change her life. The inspirational message was followed by the Champions for Children & Families Awards presentation.
The 2016 Giving Heart Award was given to Ava Castro, Valley Leadership Class 34 received the Gabe Zimmerman Emerging Champion Award, and Carol Knight and Colleen Walski received the Champion for Children & Families Award. Nadine Mathis Basha received the Martha K. Rothman Lifetime Achievement Award.
