The Childhelp Great Give Back

This year, Childhelp celebrated its annual Wings event virtually. The Childhelp Great Give Back Virtual Fundraiser was held in lieu of the organization’s annual Wings luncheon. In its new format, the event successfully surpassed its $50,000 goal by raising more than $64,000.

The Chlidhelp Great Give Back provided the opportunity for people of any age to give back. Over the course of three months, children and their families created more than 25 fundraising pages, posted videos on social media and asked their friends and families to join in the fun. Twenty children across the Valley stepped up to give back, creating their own fundraising goals.

Celebrities came together to support the cause, donating one-on-one Zoom calls that were used as raffle prizes for participants who raised more than $100. Raffle winners virtually met Momona Tamada and Xochitl Gomez of The Babysitter’s Club, Lindsay Arnold Cusick of Dancing with the Stars, Torrey DeVitto of Chicago Med, Kate Godfrey of Nickelodeon’s All That, actress and singer Laura Marano, and actress and digital content creator Shenae Grimes-Beech.

“Due to COVID-19, we had to cancel our beloved annual fashion show, which brings together notable Childhelp supporters like ABC 15’s Nick Ciletti and Disney Channel Star Laura Marano,” says Carol Hebets, Childhelp Wings founding mother. “We were thrilled to see our community still come together to support the cause, especially at this critical time when we know that many children are stuck at home with abusers.”

Last year, Childhelp served nearly 30,000 Arizona children and families through the Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline, Childhelp Speak Up Be Safe child abuse prevention education curriculum, and the Childhelp Children’s Center of Arizona. The Center’s programs, which directly serve abused children and their families, focus on meeting each child’s physical, emotional, educational and spiritual needs.
