Emergency Shelters for Children Join Forces

Child Crisis Center and Crisis Nursery, which joined forces in April 2015, announced their new organizational, Child Crisis Arizona, on Nov. 6. The new organization has an operating budget of $14.5 million and 250 employees, serves more than 8,000 vulnerable children and families annually through shelter, education and intervention services. Torrie A. Taj took the helm as CEO in September.

At the luncheon, Taj introduced the new name to the audience. “My promise to you is that Child Crisis Arizona will strive to provide innovative and effective programs that will have significant and lasting impact and provide a strong voice for those in need – one child and one family at a time.”

Child Crisis Arizona’s services include a multitude of programs housed within the three promises – Prevent, Support, Advocate. These include emergency shelters, a foster and adoptive program, prevention and education programs, Early Head Start and Preschool program, in-home visitation, and relative care for foster and adoptive families.
