VYTal Affair

Valley Youth Theatre held its 20th annual VYTal Affair on Aug. 17 at the Herberger Theater Center. VYTal is the acronym for Valley Youth Theatre Applauds Leadership.

The evening, which included cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, silent and live auctions, and a musical performance by the cast of VYT’s 31st Season Opener, Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical, also honored the 2019 VYTALITY – Valley Youth Theatre Applauds Leadership Impacting Today’s Youth – Awards. The individual recipients were Oscar De las salas and Gary Jackson. Zions Bancorporation/National Bank of Arizona received the corporate award.

VYTal Affair is Valley Youth Theatre’s largest fundraiser of the year, with 92 percent of the money raised going directly to VYT programs.

Andrea Tyler Evans chaired the event. Local personalities Gina Salazar-Hook and John Hook hosted the event, and auctioneer Letitia Frye conducted the live auction. Local dining establishments provided complimentary catering.
