Retirement Celebration for Herberger Theater Center’s Dick Bowers

Friends and colleagues gather to toast organization’s longtime president.

Billie Jo and Judd Herberger hosted a cocktail party for Dick Bowers to celebrate his retirement from the Herberger Theater Center as president, a position he has held since joining the organization 15 years ago.

As part of a planned succession, Mark Mettes, CFE, has been named president and CEO. Within Bowers’ first two years with the Herberger Theater Center, he expanded the Arts Education initiatives. The result was the launch of the Lunch Time Theater and Art Gallery programs that support and showcase smaller theater companies and Arizona visual artists. Bowers was also instrumental in guiding the organization through the recession and a full facility renovation.
