Lunch and a Movie?

Duet: Partners in Health & Aging wasn’t able to hold its annual fundraiser, Partners in Compassion Luncheon, originally scheduled for April 28. But the forced cancellation due to COVID-19 didn’t eliminate the need the organization has for the money the luncheon would have generated. To prevent the crisis from continuing to impact the community Duet serves, the event was reimagined as a virtual experience—at your place, on your schedule.

Choose a day, set your table with lunch and view a special video in the comfort of your own home. The video highlights the services Duet provides and the people the organization helps on a daily basis. Viewers can make a donation to Duet directly from the video link.

“Proceeds from the luncheon are a critical source of Duet’s funding, especially as we move into the summer months, so our Capacity Building Team opted to pivot to a virtual-event format,” says Lori Appleby Hoke, Duet’s community engagement manager. “One of our agency values is a commitment to fulfill our mission even when resources and energies are challenged, and so this was an opportunity to do just that in as safe a manner as possible.”

Duet is a nonprofit, interfaith organization that promotes health and well-being by providing needed services to homebound adults, family caregivers, faith communities and grandfamilies. Duet’s free-of-charge services are available in the greater Phoenix area.
