Desert Foundation Auxiliary Inducts New Members, Announces 2020 Board

Desert Foundation Auxiliary held its annual meeting at Paradise Valley Country Club in early February. The organization presented two charities, ElderTLC and Gigi University with checks as a benefit of the proceeds from the 54th Desert Ball held Dec. 21 at The Phoenician.

During the meeting, members of the 2020 board of directors were inducted and introduced to active and associate members who were in attendance. Five new members were also introduced. They are joined by 55 active members and 130 associate members, 23 of whom have reached lifetime status, having been a member for 35 consecutive years. New members are Debbi Douglas, Lisa Garber, Megan Hackbarth, Myndi Kort and Else Whyte.

Since its founding in 1965, DFA’s mission has been to select and present to the community young women from the Scottsdale Unified School District, city of Scottsdale and towns of Paradise Valley and Carefree.

The 55th Desert Ball will be Dec. 22 at The Phoenician. Colleen Katz serves as president of the organization, and Jill Hegardt is the 2020 ball chair. Jenny Ellis will be her co-chair.
