Celebrate Dia del Niño – Online!

On Sun., April 26, the Heard Museum is celebrating Dia del Niño – Children’s Day – with a free virtual event for children and families. These programs will premiere on Facebook and YouTube, and after the event they will be available on Heard@Home.

Stories for Día del Niño: Family Love and Community Strength
Noon

Enjoy five storytellers from the South Mountain Community College Storytelling Institute as they share personal and traditional stories for the whole family.

Weaving at Home with Velma Kee Craig (Diné)
1 p.m.
Master weaver and Heard Museum Andrew W. Mellon Fellow Velma Craig (pictured above) will teach you how to make and weave on a cardboard loom. You can weave with yarn or any materials you already have around your house such as scraps of material, plastic shopping bags, old t-shirts, newspaper or junk mail.

Musical Performance with Grammy-Nominated Canyon Records Artist Aaron White (Northern Ute / Diné)
2 p.m.
Aaron will share guitar and flute music to sing along with, and tell us about the traditions behind making his stunning wooden flutes.
