2019 Awards Luncheon
Award-winning journalist Soledad O’Brien received the Sandra Day O’Connor Lifetime Achievement Award at the March 25 Arizona Foundation for Women Awards Luncheon. O’Brien anchors and produces the Hearst Television political magazine Matter of Fact with Soledad O’Brien. She and her husband co-founded PowHERful Foundation, which helps young women get to and through college.
In addition to O’Brien, Tom Donahue and Kim Hartmann received awards, the Voice of Women Award and the Marilyn R. Seymann Award, respectively. Donahue is a director and producer as well as the founder of CreativeChaos vmg. His latest film as director, This Changes Everything, investigates gender discrimination in Hollywood. Hartmann is the current chair of the Arizona Foundation for Women Board of Directors and has spent her time advocating for women and children in Arizona.
Ruby Farias and Lance Schley and Darlene Keller-Price and John Price co-chaired the luncheon, which raised $385,000 for Arizona Foundation for Women. ABC 15’s Fay Fredricks emceed the luncheon and following the presentations, conducted a fireside chat with Soledad O’Brien. The event at the Phoenician was presented by Carstens Family Funds and Southwest Airlines.
