Horse Power with Star Power
Healing Hearts Animal Rescue and Refuge held its third annual Horse Power with Star Power fundraiser May 3. The event hosted by Dominick’s Steakhouse offered attendees a meet-and-greet opportunity with Maks, Peta and Val Chmerkovskiy, stars of ABC’s show Dancing with the Stars.
Actor and comedian Jill Kimmel served as the evening’s emcee and auctioneer, raising more than $100,000 for the animals of Healing Hearts. Ivy Ciolli chaired the event for the third year.
The fundraiser came just one day after Healing Hearts assisted in their largest rescue effort on record. More than 20 horses were relinquished from a Phoenix horse owner and brought to Healing Hearts for immediate medical, dental and hoof care as well as long-term rehabilitation and adoption. Healing Hearts is Arizona’s largest nonprofit equine rescue and refuge.
