Banner Children’s Open

Event raises more than $700,000 for the Child Life program at Banner’s three pediatric medical centers

The Banner Health Foundation’s annual Banner Children’s Open presented by Innovaccer welcomed participants back to the Wildfire Golf Club at the JW Marriott Resort Desert Ridge on April 9. Some 300 golfers spent a sunny day on the links playing the Faldo and Palmer courses, with fun golf challenges along the way—all to support the Child Life program at Banner Children’s medical centers in Mesa, Glendale and Tucson.

A morning networking breakfast offered plenty of space and fresh air for golfers to practice on the driving range, shop in the Golf Concept Store, purchase a Devereux hat with a mystery prize from the Mystery Hat Wall, or buy raffle tickets for a chance to win a Phat Scooter. Complimentary face masks, hand sanitizer stationed throughout the course and pre-packaged meals kept golfers, staff, and volunteers safe throughout the day.

The afternoon ended with a reception hosted by Mathew Blades from Mix 96.9 Mornings and an exciting final challenge where the winning foursome from each course went head to head in a sudden-death, putt-on-glass shootout. All four members of the winning team, known as Team Ted, took home a “Best Summer Yeti” prize package, complete with a Traeger Texas Elite Pellet Grill 34, Yeti Tundra Hard Cooler, Yeti Carryall and a smart cooking thermometer.

Co-chaired by Chris DeWitt and John Niziolek, the Banner Children’s Open raised more than $700,000 for the Child Life program at Banner’s three pediatric medical centers in Arizona.
