America’s cowboy culture and opera’s hallowed traditions converge to celebrate the collaborative power of art in the new documentary film Riders of the Purple Sage: The Making of a Western Opera. This Arizona-based film is directed by 2021 Governor’s Arts Award nominee Kristin Atwell Ford and features the artistry behind Arizona Opera’s first world premiere. The film’s streaming premiere will benefit The Actors Fund, a national nonprofit that provides a safety net for creatives sidelined by the pandemic.
The film premieres Thurs., March 25, and is airing until Sun., April 11. Tickets are $10.
