Arizona-Designed Dress Shines at the 74th Golden Globes

The 74th Golden Globe Awards honored the best in film and American television of 2016 on Jan. 8 in Beverly Hills, Calif.

Out of the spotlight, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association‘s Charitable Trust was established to provide financial support for educational and cultural nonprofit organizations whose primary focus is the entertainment industry. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s annual Golden Globe Awards ceremony has enabled the nonprofit organization to donate close to $26 million in the past 27 years to entertainment-related charities, as well as funding scholarships and other programs for future film and television professionals.

Scottsdale resident Micheline Etkin is a red-carpet regular. This year again, The Agency Arizona model made the journey to Hollywood to attend the 74th Golden Globes Awards as ambassador to the nonprofit organization ICPCN (International Children Palliative Cancer Network).

Etkin’s long-time friend and trendsetter Oscar De la salas jumped on board to style her for the awards ceremony. An architect by trade, De las salas has designed and directed projects in the world of design and fashion for more than two decades. Looking for a dress to rise to the occasion, Etkin challenged her fashion-forward friend by asking him to design a one-of-a-kind dress.

Tamara Crawford from Tamara Alterations, suggested a cobalt blue floral French lace embellished with blue sequins that she had intentionally kept for a special creation. It took almost three weeks, three seamstresses and three fittings to bring the dress to life. Extra layers have been added in some areas to add tridimensional accents, and lace flowers have been strategically sewn around the neckline and the wristbands.

Etkin walked the red carpet with made-to-measure shoes by Massaro Paris, a Judith Lieber clutch and her own earrings and ring.
