The May 15 mid-year Heart Ball committee meeting at Neiman Marcus featured an assortment of breakfast goodies and a fashion show with the theme “Put a Little in Your Heart,” showing the best of summer fashion.

Heart Ball chair Lynne Love and committee members gave status reports on plans for the Nov. 17 event. Dr. Jamie Beckerman, author of The Flex Diet, spoke about how to lose a pound, since that’s the best start to any diet, by concentrating on one thing a day and eating nutritious, heart-healthy foods. Beckerman, a cardiologist from Portland, Oregon, has appeared on the “Today Show” and “Dr. Oz,” and writes for WebMD. Cosmetics company Pacific Amore gave a presentation on healthy skin.
