AWEE celebrates 20th anniversary of luncheon with magical moments
More than 725 guests helped The Arizona Women’s Education & Employment (AWEE) celebrate its 20th anniversary of The Faces of Success Luncheon at the Arizona Biltmore on Nov. 13. The day’s theme was magic, and it was everywhere, beginning with a Champagne reception, raffles – including jewelry from Molina Fine Jewelers – and giveaway prizes. The Arizona Diamondbacks offered “Hit One Out of the Park Seats” for donations to AWEE. In addition, magician Gene Urban worked a little magic of his own.
At the luncheon, the 2014 Faces of Success Victoria Tillman, Janee Jackson and Nadine Homeier shared their inspiring personal stories of triumph over difficulties.
AWEE President and CEO Marie Sullivan was honored with the Jeanne Lind Herberger Award for her courage and dedication to education, women and family issues, and community workforce development. Several past honorees were also present at the luncheon, including Mildred Bulpitt, Deb Carstens, Elva Coor, Ruth Downs, Anne Lynch and Marilyn Seymann. Tara Hitchcock; Tim Hattrick; Alfredo Molina; Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton; Deb Castaldo, Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation; and Benito Almanza, Bank of America, emceed the luncheon.
