About 400 people attended An Evening to Paws, the Arizona Animal Welfare League and SPCA’s annual fundraiser, March 8 at the Hilton Scottsdale Resort & Villas. The rock-n-roll-themed event, which raised $160,000, featured more than 100 silent auction items, including an electric guitar signed by Alice Cooper. The guitar was donated by radio station KSLX. The auction also included a $4,000 pair of diamond earrings donated by Robert C. Wesley Jeweler. Gold Paw sponsors were KSLX, Robert C. Wesley Jeweler and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona.

Radio host Pete Cummings of KSLX, with his band Pete & the ShortCummings provided the music.

During the evening, AAWL and SPCA presented the Rock Star Award to PayPal, which chose the organization as its beneficiary of donations and a pet adoption event in 2013.

As part of the event, several adopters of puppy mill dogs that were rescued recently by AAWL & SPCA were introduced to the crowd with their happy new pets.
