Chrysalis Honors ... the Family

The April 27 dinner to benefit Chrysalis domestic violence shelters honored the families of Christi and Paul Beyer and Joan and Dave Howell. Each year since 2006 the organization has selected two families to recognize at its annual fundraising dinner.

The Quatre Melodiq String Quartet from Shadow Mountain High School entertained as the 260 guests enjoyed cocktails on the Squaw Peak Lawn of the Arizona Biltmore. Dinner and the program followed in the Grand Ballroom, with tables set with checked tablecloths to resemble a picnic.

In an onstage interview, Channel 12 newscaster Kim Covington interviewed both children and parents to provide insight into what makes their families successful. Covington also shared her personal story of growing up in an abusive family.

The evening netted $202,000 to support the programs of the 30-year-old Chrysalis. Marni Gerber chaired the dinner, and godaddy.com and the Parsons Foundation were the presenting sponsors.
