Sandra Day O’Connor Awards Luncheon

The 16th annual luncheon hosted by the Arizona Foundation for Women was April 30 at the Arizona Biltmore. The event drew 620 guests to pay tribute to women who make a difference in the community and nation.

Frances Hesselbein received the Lifetime Achievement Award for her as a role model for generations of women and girls as founding president of the Leader to Leader Institute and CEO of Girl Scouts USA. Barbara Barrett, president and CEO of Triple Creek Guest Ranch in Montana, former ambassador to Finland and former senior adviser to the U.S. Mission at the United Nations, was honored with the AFW Annual Voice of Women Award. Local leader Tamara Woodbury was the recipient of the Marilyn R. Seymann Award. Woodbury has more than 25 years of management experience in nonprofit organizations and is currently the executive director of the Girl Scouts, Arizona Cactus-Pine Council Inc., which not only is one of the largest Girl Scout councils in the country but also has been recognized nationally for its innovative programs and business practices.

Phil Francis, executive chairman of PetSmart; Ruth V. McGregor, retired Arizona chief justice; and Fran Roberts, group vice president of DeVry Inc., co-chaired the luncheon. Deborah Carstens was the honorary chair.
