VYT Brings Joy Into the Lives of Children in Need

On June 28 and 29, Valley Youth Theatre will present its 22nd Annual Sponsor-A-Seat. Through partnerships with more than 40 social service agencies including UMOM New Day Centers, Boys and Girls Club of Metro Phoenix (Warner A Gabel Branch), Southwest Human Development, IcanBig Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona, Homeward Bound, VYT provides at-risk youth with a unique opportunity to experience the performing arts. Each year, board members, staff, young performers and dedicated volunteers contribute to the success of the event.

Last year supporters helped VYT sell out Center Stage at the Herberger Theater Center with more than 1,500 youth who live with physical disabilities, come from broken homes and/or regularly deal with domestic violence and poverty. They experienced the wonder of live theater through Annie. Children will also enjoy a healthy lunch with the cast and crew after the performance.

“The need to dream, imagine, be inspired, gain access and participate in the arts, for all children, is more critical than ever,” says Bobb Cooper, VYT producing artistic director.

The goal is very ambitious this year. VYT is hoping to bring again more than 1,500 children to its special production of Annie. Each gift of $50 provides a child’s ticket and lunch with the cast and crew. For more information or to make a donation, visit vyt.com.
