5th Annual Broadway Ball
Arizona Broadway Theatre hosted The Fifth Annual Broadway Ball on March 3 at the West Valley theater. More than 200 guests attended the event and raised in excess of $120,000 to benefit the theater and its artistic, educational and charitable programs.
The evening included cocktails, dinner, silent and live auctions a wine pull and its popular gift card “Frenzy.” Live entertainment included performances from ABT’s Mainstage and children’s programs. The evening ended with dancing to the music of Len King and the AZ Swing Kings, who were accompanied by ABT vocalists.
During the program, Kiel and Cassandra Klaphake, ABT’s co-founders and executive producers, spoke about the transformational power of live theater. The Klaphakes also revealed exciting developments at ABT, including a scheduled Encore Room appearance of musical theater composer Jason Robert Brown (The Bridges of Madison County, Parade, Songs for a New World and The Last Five Years) and the introduction of Valley husband-and-wife duo Lynzee and Mark 4man as co-directors of a new teen performance troupe at Arizona Broadway Theatre.
Sharon Jarnagin and Lisa Platt co-chaired the evening. Among the sponsors were Arrowhead Cadillac, the Arizona Coyotes Foundation, TC Schuttler, Arrowhead Dermatology, Low Mountain Construction and Peoria Mayor Cathy Carlat.
