16th Scottsdale International Film Festival Rolls Oct. 6 – 10

The 16th Scottsdale International Film Festival will showcase more than 50 films from more than 20 countries during five days and nights of screenings, Oct. 6 – 10, 2016. Among the diverse offerings are acclaimed dramas, thrillers, comedies, documentaries, kid-friendly flicks and more.

“The Scottsdale International Film Festival is elated to be in its 16th year of bringing the best of world cinema to Arizona,” remarks Amy Ettinger, founder and executive director. “We’re looking forward to showcasing rare, entertaining and inspiring films that audiences may not have the chance to see elsewhere.”

Daytime programming will include screenings of animated short films for children and documentaries. The Film Festival will host an opening celebration complete with live music, food and cocktails, followed by the opening night screening of Denial, the dramatic story about a vital battle for historical truth starring Academy Award winner Rachel Weisz, in the Center’s Virginia G. Piper Theater. True-life heroine of the film, Deborah E. Lipstadt, will join for a live Skype discussion after the screening.

Following opening night, the Scottsdale International Film Festival will return to its longtime home, Harkins Shea 14 Theatre in Scottsdale, which will host all other screenings, Oct. 7 – 10.
