Super Ball Sports Gala

4th annual Arizona Assistance in Healthcare event raises money for patients’ non-medical expenses

Arizona Assistance in Healthcare hosted its fourth Super Ball Sports Gala on March 24 at Mountain Shadows Resort. “Get In The Game” was a hit with the 300 guests, many rising to the occasion donned in creative sports attire. The gala raised money for individuals’ non-medical expenses when the cost of prolonged medical care creates financial hardship. This year’s party will help 543 people.

The mostly al fresco evening included a silent auction, wine and cheese samplings during the cocktail hour, and, for dinner, a movable feast created by the chef at Mountain Shadows. Guests could select from sports-associated goodies including street tacos and fish tacos, braised pork and more.

Cancer survivor Bill Debusk emceed the event. Lea Haben Woodford, also a cancer survivor, was the honorary chair. The event also celebrated Ande Michaels, a benefactor of Assistance In Healthcare, who was honored as the 2018 Recipient Chair.

Super Ball was presented by Cancer Treatment Centers of America and in partnership with the Arizona Diamondbacks and Young’s Marketplace. To date, AIH has helped more than 7,020 people with money for everything from rent and groceries to gas.
