Architectural Couture on the Runway

The International Interior Design Association (IIDA), a professional networking and educational association with more than 13,000 members practicing worldwide in more than 50 countries, is committed to enhancing the quality of life through excellence in interior design and advancing interior design through knowledge, value and community.

The IIDA Southwest Chapter, comprised of approximately 350 members, will host its Seventh Biennial Couture Event on Sept. 30 at Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts

Local architects, interior designers and design students are paired with local vendors along with the Sherwin Williams Colormix 2016 palette, then challenged to create runway fashions. The design teams spend months crafting these unique designs, using limited materials and resources, such as mosaic tile or carpet yarn, and Colormix colors. All designs are inspired by this year’s theme: Decades of Fashion.

The final designs will be showcased in a fashion-show setting on Sept. 30. A panel of celebrity and industry judges will select the winners of the runway show.

Net proceeds from this event will benefit the IIDA Southwest Chapter and its Connect4 event as well as I.D.C.A. (Interior Design Coalition of Arizona). Connect4 is IIDA Southwest Chapter’s newest philanthropic event and takes place on the opposite year as Couture – in each chapter’s City Centers – Albuquerque, Las Vegas, Phoenix and Tucson.
