Musical “Avenue Q” is Back at Phoenix Theatre

The pervy puppets are back, delivering guaranteed laughs with this Tony Award-winning musical at Phoenix Theatre through July 10.

Avenue Q is a story about Princeton (Toby Yatso), a recent college grad who moves into a seedy New York City neighborhood on Avenue Q. There, he meets Kate, the girl next door (Emily Mulligan-Ferry), Rod, the Republican (also played by Toby Yatso) and Gary Coleman (Yolanda London), who struggle to find decent jobs, stable relationships and a purpose in life. Together, they ultimately realize the real world isn’t so bad after all.

This colorful production, described by The New York Times as “sweetly satiric and surprisingly fresh,” aims to shock and delight with its R-rated musical numbers and candid, quick-witted takes on familiar adult situations.
