The National Kidney Foundation of Arizona hosted its 13th annual Dancing with the Stars on Feb. 22 at the JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn. The Fire and Ice-themed event, modeled after the television show, paired local notables – most with no prior dance training – with professional partners, to raise funds and awareness to fight kidney disease. More than 700 guests attended the friendly dance competition, raising more than $500,000 for the patients and programs of the National Kidney Foundation of Arizona.
During the evening, Nancy Spetzler received the Guiding Star Award for her continued support for the National Kidney Foundation of Arizona. She and her husband, Dr. Robert Spetzler, danced in the inaugural event in 2007 and returned for the 2008 gala. This year, she performed a special exhibition performance.
The evening’s dance champions were Andrea Tyler Evans and Ivan Dishliev, Zach Heasley and Anja Imamovic, Jarrod Smith and Gergana Slavova, and Kerrie Addante Jacobs and Tudor Alexander.
Jamie Andersen, who danced in Dancing with the Stars Arizona 2015 and returned as a Legends Dancer in 2016, chaired the evening. Chelsey Davis, ABC Smart Shopper, emceed the evening.
