The 11th Annual Teaming Up For Girls Luncheon is Florence Crittenton’s signature fundraising event. This inspiring and entertaining luncheon raises money to help further our mission of providing every girl whose life we touch safety, hope and opportunity. This year's event will feature an exciting silent auction and raffle, exclusive VIP reception, delicious lunch and a compelling program featuring Keynote Speaker Laura Ling, Visionary Award Recipient, Linda Volhein and HOPE Award Recipient Jason Schechterle. Individual tickets are $275, Premium individual tickets are $1,000, and tables range from $2,750 to $25,000.

Jason Schechterle is the 2013 HOPE Award recipient. HOPE Award recipients provide a Head start, Opportunity, Positive future and Education for children and are recognized for their outstanding efforts in making a difference in the lives of others. Jason truly embodies the spirit of this award. In 2000, Jason achieved his longtime dream of working as a Phoenix police officer. However, 14 months into what he hoped would be a life-long career, his life took a tragic and unexpected turn when a taxi cab traveling over 100 miles per hour crashed into the rear of Jason’s patrol car. Jason's car burst into flames, trapping him inside with temperatures reaching over 1000 degrees. He suffered severe 4th degree burns to over 40% of his body, which drastically altered his appearance. He lay in a coma for over two months and never expected to live, much less walk, talk, regain his sight or function as he once had. Since then, he has undergone more than 50 surgeries just to have the ability to accomplish simple daily tasks often taken for granted.

In addition, author and formerly imprisoned journalist, Laura Ling, will deliver the luncheon's keynote address. In 2009 Ling was violently apprehended near the border of China & North Korea while reporting on the trafficking of women that takes place in the area. She was sentenced to 12 years in a labor prison, and endured months of captivity while U.S. government officials worked to secure her release. Former President Bill Clinton was instrumental in moving along the release of Ling, and her colleague Euna Lee.
